If you’ve ever browsed The Quirky Hide, you might have noticed a little dragon popping up here and there. That’s Fred Furnace, the fiery guardian of my handcrafted treasures and the heart of my brand. But where did he come from? And why does The Quirky Hide have a dragon as its mascot?

The Birth of Fred Furnace

Fred didn’t just appear one day—he was imagined, created, and brought to life much like my leatherwork. The idea of a dragon protector felt perfect for The Quirky Hide; after all, dragons are known for guarding treasures, and my handcrafted leather pieces are just that—little treasures, each made with care and craftsmanship.

I wanted a mascot that wasn’t just a logo but a character with personality, a little bit mischievous, a little bit magical, and full of warmth (quite literally!). Fred became the perfect fit—a tiny fire-breathing companion watching over my creations.
